Little test of carpro orange peel removal pads

Little test of carpro orange peel removal pads

Postby Divine Detail » Sun Sep 15, 2013 10:45 am

Thought I would try these and give my opinion as it might help some on here. Heard some good thing's about the carpro orange peel removal pads lately so thought I would test them. The car in question was a nissan micra paint was measured before and after, I didn't find it as aggressive as other's have but on 2 passes and when it was refined I saw a removal of 5 microns. The pad I used was the velvet pad as opposed to the denim, the equivalent to 3000 grit whereas the denim is similar to 2000 grit, the velvet pads are recommended for the factory finishes. The pads do get clogged very quickly in my experience and I cleaned the pad with a megs brush after every use. Enough talking onto the pictures :)

As a conclusion im quite impressed, they leave a really good finish behind with only afew little marks which were easily taken out by following up with megs 205, no mess from wet sanding etc, intricate area's are obviously a pain but alot quicker than wet sanding.

Hope this helps people out.

Definitely agree, I see them as perfect for a keen owner I wouldn't recommend for a pro who can actually wet sand. They are limited to their working area as the size of the pad only suits large area's. I fully agree with the level of clear that needs to be left, that should always play a part, this kind of contradicts the use of these pads for an amateur as I took various paint depth measurements before, during and after.
